What is a grant fund?

Grant funds are resource allocation mechanisms for institutional projects that seek to develop new innovative processes or products that generate an impact on society.

The School of Engineering applies to these funds in partnership with institutions to transfer its knowledge and collaborate in the development of technologies.

The funds differ in the industrial or territorial sector in which it is applied or in the stage of development of a technology and in the modality of participation of the institutions.

Beneficiary:
Entity that applies to the fund, receives the grant, and is responsible for the technical and financial realization of the project.

The following tables show the funds, their objectives, the amount allocated to each one, and the type of collaboration with the University as stipulated in the terms and conditions.

Support the development of new or improved technology-based products, processes and/or services from prototypes, until their technical validation on an industrial or commercial scale.

Beneficiary:
Legal entities constituted in Chile.
Natural persons who, at the time of applying, are over 18 years of age and, in addition, have started activities in a first-class income tax business line.

Associate:
– Natural and/or legal persons incorporated in Chile or abroad.

Collaborating Entity or Third Party Hiring:
– Higher education institutions.

Varies between $30,000,000 and $120,000,000

Consolida y Expande

Support the national and/or international scaling, at a commercial and/or industrial level, and the validation and equipment in the destination markets, of a Marketable Technological Product.

Beneficiary
Legal entities constituted in Chile.
– Natural persons who, at the time of applying, are over 18 years of age and, in addition, have started activities in a first-class income tax business line.

Associated:
Natural and/or legal persons incorporated in Chile or abroad.

Collaborating Entity o Third Party Hiring:
– Higher education institutions.

Varies between $40.000.000 and $100.000.000

Innova Región

Support the development of new or improved products, processes and/or services, from prototypes to their commercial validation, that contribute to the regional economy.

Beneficiary:
– Legal entities constituted in Chile.
– Natural persons who, at the time of applying, are over 18 years of age and, in addition, have started activities in a first-class income tax business line.

Associated:
Natural and/or legal persons constituted in Chile or abroad.

Collaborating Entity or Third Party Hiring:
– Higher education institutions.

Research and Development in Action (IDeA)

Support the co-financing of applied R&D projects with a strong scientific component so that they develop technologies that can become new products, processes or services, with a reasonable probability of generating productive, economic and social impacts.

Beneficiary:
– Non-profit national legal entities.
– Universities and higher education institutions recognized by the State.
– Technological, research and development institutes, both public and private.
– Institutions that carry out scientific-technological activities and whose objective, expressly indicated in their statutes, is to carry out R&D activities.

Associated:
– Natural or legal persons, national or foreign, public or private, for-profit or non-profit.

Up to $200.000.000

Technological Research (IT)

Supports R&D projects aimed at improving and evaluating results in conditions close to the definitive application. Projects must have previous results that validate a proof of concept.

Private Projects
Beneficiary:

– Non-profit national legal entities.
– Universities and higher education institutions recognized by the State.
– Technological, research and development institutes, both public and private.
– Institutions that carry out scientific-technological activities.

Associated:
– Public or private, national or foreign entities with or without profit purposes, such as companies, foundations, universities and corporations.

Projectsof Public Interest
Principal:
– Non-profit Chilean legal entities, public or private, .
– Intergovernmental organization based in Chile, whose mission is related to the main objective of the project.

Associated:
– Public or private, national or foreign entities with or without profit purposes, such as companies, foundations, universities and corporations.

Generate and disseminate knowledge through applied scientific and technological research projects that contribute to the resolution of priority problems that are associated with current health objectives.

Beneficiary:
– Non-profit national legal entities.

– Non-profit institutions that carry out scientific-technological activities.

Associated:
– Public or private, national or foreign entities with or without profit purposes, such as health services, foundations, municipalities, universities and corporations and companies.

STARTUP CIENCIA (Ministry of Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation)

Startup Ciencia

Promote Scientific-Technological Based Companies with financing, access to networks and support, so that they grow their ideas, materialize them, solve complex challenges and adapt to changes.

Beneficiary:
– Legal entities incorporated in Chile, with or without profit, with less than 5 years of experience counted from the date of the call, belonging to the category of micro and small companies whose annual sales do not exceed 25,000 UF.

Associates:
– Public or private entities, national or foreign, with or without profit, such as companies, foundations, universities, corporations.

Third party hiring:
– Higher education institutions.
